Holiday decoration of Palić

Recently, in the very heart of the tourist area of Palić— in front of the Grand Terrace and in the Great Park— festive illuminated decorations and a Christmas tree have been installed, symbolically marking the beginning of the holiday atmosphere and the Christmas and New Year season.

Park Palić, as the manager of the tourist destination, decided—following the example of other destinations—to enrich its offer and further enhance the Great Park by acquiring decorative LED lighting in the form of illuminated spheres, glowing gift boxes of various sizes, and a 5-meter-high Christmas tree with accompanying decorations. This has also resolved a long-standing issue of sourcing tall conifer trees, transporting them, and safely installing them at the Open Wings of the Grand Terrace.

Given the enthusiasm of all visitors and tourists who had the opportunity to enjoy and see Palić’s holiday decorations, the plan is to further enrich them with additional features in each coming year.

Works carried out as part of routine maintenance in Palić

The end of the summer season has long no longer meant the end of activities in Palić for us. With the aim of continuously improving and enhancing our destination, in recent months we have addressed several more serious, long-standing issues in the tourist area of Palić, and carried out a number of works.

Postavljanje urbanog mobilijara

In the central tourist area of Palić, near the restaurant “Mala Gostiona,” the worn-out wooden posts were dismantled and replaced with new concrete spheres. A total of 100 spheres were installed along this section.

Sanacija dela staza uz obalu kod Peščane plaže

In the immediate vicinity of the Sandy Beach, due to ground subsidence and water flowing through a “channel” beneath the path, the paving (behaton) slabs on the walkway became sunken and damaged. Through the rehabilitation works, the ground and paving slabs were leveled, and a new drainage pipe was installed, which will provide a long-term solution for this area and prevent further subsidence and deterioration of the path at the Sandy Beach.

Radovi za rekonstrukciju ograde za klima uređaj na objektu Eko centar

The worn-out wooden enclosure for the outdoor air-conditioning unit, which was in very poor condition, was completely replaced with a new, handcrafted fence that refreshed the exterior and improved the approach to the Eco Center.

Revitalizacija asfalta kod Ženskog Štranda

The revitalization of the asphalt near the Women’s Strand has resolved a long-standing issue of water accumulation after rainfall in that area, which had made it inaccessible to users and visitors. The works included asphalt paving and the application of topsoil along the roadside shoulders.

Demontaža starih i postavljanje novih oluka na objektu Eko centar

During September and October, a complete removal of the gutters on the Eco Center building was carried out, along with the fabrication and installation of new ones.

Radovi na sanaciji havarije kanalizacionog voda kod česme

As strong roots from nearby trees had over time damaged the drainage line of the fountain in the heart of Palić’s tourist area—causing water to overflow during use and flood the surrounding area and access path—rehabilitation works were carried out on the fountain’s drainage system, thereby resolving this long-standing issue.
During the spring of 2020, the access to the fountain will also be reconstructed, after which it will be put back into operation before the start of the tourist season in Palić.

Construction and installation of a new fence at the Grand Terrace

The external fence of the eastern wing of the Grand Terrace had deteriorated over time due to weather and other adverse conditions, posing a risk to pedestrians, as the rotten wooden elements were in very poor and damaged condition.
Accordingly, the old fence was completely dismantled and a new one was constructed and installed on the eastern wing of the Grand Terrace during November. In 2020, the fence of the western wing of the outdoor terrace will also be subject to reconstruction.

Significant Growth in Tourist Traffic in Palić

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, as of August 2019, published statistical data on tourist traffic in Serbia.
Data on tourist traffic in Palić show that the total number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays significantly increased in 2019 compared to the previous year, 2018.
By comparing data for the four months considered the tourist season (May, June, July, and August), the total number of tourist arrivals increased by 11% in 2019. During these four months in 2019, 15,288 arrivals were recorded, compared to 13,750 tourist arrivals in 2018.

An even more significant increase was recorded in the total number of tourist overnight stays in 2019, rising by 23.5%. During the same four-month period, 29,430 overnight stays were recorded, compared to 23,866 in the same period in 2018. years.

A significantly greater increase in arrivals and overnight stays of domestic tourists compared to foreign tourists is noticeable.

These more than satisfactory results are the outcome of serious and long-term planning of tourism development in Palić by DOO Park Palić, the manager of the Palić tourist area.

Tourists have clearly taken notice of the continuous improvement and beautification of the shoreline of Lake Palić, the development and construction of promenades, the much higher-quality and more creative sports, entertainment, and hospitality offerings, the cultural and artistic programs at the Summer Stage, as well as many other supporting amenities that together create a comprehensive and rich tourism offer in Palić.

We certainly must not forget congress tourism, which is experiencing strong growth in Palić, thanks to the beautiful and functional facilities of the Grand Terrace, the Summer Stage, and the Eco Center.

With the construction of the Aqua Park in 2020 at the Men’s Strand, an influx of an even greater number of tourists is expected, both domestic and from countries in the region.

Alongside investments in the tourism offer, significant attention is also being given to infrastructure development in Palić, as one of the key prerequisites for further tourism growth and new investments.

There is excellent cooperation with national and provincial authorities, which have recognized Palić’s great potential as a tourist destination, as well as the efforts of DOO Park Palić to turn that “great potential” into great success.

A concert by Bajaga and the Instructors was held.

On Saturday, September 28, a concert by the legendary Belgrade rock band Bajaga and the Instructors was held at the Summer Stage in Palić. This spectacular concert was the crowning event of a more than successful cultural and entertainment program that took place this year at the Summer Stage in Palić.

A full audience at the Summer Stage welcomed the first chords of Bajaga and the Instructors’ opening song on their feet, sang along with Bajaga to the band’s greatest hits throughout the entire concert, and only after several encore performances “allowed” the musicians to take a well-deserved rest.

Many in the audience, listening to songs such as Train, Good Morning, Jazz Lovers, Silence, Berlin and many others, reminisced about their youth, while younger generations were also present among the visitors, to whom Bajaga’s songs have likewise grown close to the heart.

This time, the weather conditions were favorable for the organizers, as the rain bypassed the Summer Stage during the concert.

The 3rd Wine Marathon was held at Palić

The Wine Marathon at Palić is the most fun wine-and-sport event in the region, as experienced by over 1,000 runners who, on Saturday, September 21, took part in the half-marathon Wine Race and the ten-kilometer Enjoyment Run. Competitors from 16 countries ran through the vineyards and refreshed themselves with wine from the best Palić wineries.

At this year’s event, runners from multiple continents participated, coming to Serbia for the Wine Marathon. They came from Japan, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Brazil, Russia, the United Kingdom, Finland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland, while traditionally, besides Serbia, the largest number of runners came from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Hungary.

The winner of the half-marathon Wine Race was Miklós Bruner from the Hajduk MT Kula club and in the women’s category, Ines Jozić from Croatia.

The winners of the Enjoyment Run were Katarina Stojković from the MTS Serbia team and József Nyári from Hungary.

In addition to being fast and physically prepared for the race, many participants also put effort into having very creative costumes, making the competition fierce. Still, the award for the best individual costume went to the marathon’s most popular ‘water polo player,’ Mr. Aleksandar Ormoš from Zrenjanin, while the award for the best group costume went to a group of 25 participants from Belgrade who dressed up as ‘zombies.’

After the race, all participants and visitors continued at the Great Terrace with wine tastings and local gastronomic specialties, while the Subotica band Selected provided excellent entertainment. Many participants took part in engaging wine workshops, sailed on the Wine Boat, went on wine picnics, and a fun barrel-rolling competition was also organized, accompanied by lots of cheering and laughter.

Participants of this year’s Wine Marathon joined a fundraising campaign for the construction of a parent house in Belgrade for children with cancer by downloading the ‘Take a Step’ app, which recorded the kilometers completed during the marathon. These kilometers are monetized by Serbian companies and donated to the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer.

The Wine Marathon is a unique event that combines sport, wine, gastronomy, and music in a fun way, providing enjoyment for all the senses, as best evidenced by the photographs, which also serve as the best invitation for next year.

2019’s Berbanski Days

are at Palić over the weekend 14. On September 15, the 30th Jubilee Grape Harvest Days were held at Palić. Park Palić Ltd., together with its collaborators and co-organizers, designed a rich and engaging program that was equally interesting for all age groups. At this 30th jubilee celebration of the Grape Harvest Days, record attendance was recorded from residents of Subotica and Palić, as well as tourists from other cities and countries. This was certainly aided by excellent organization, reflected in a diverse and colorful selection of the largest number of exhibitors ever at the Grape Harvest Days, a rich gastronomic offer, a cultural and artistic program, and, of course, beautiful sunny weather.”

During the two-day Grape Harvest celebrations, we could walk through the ‘street’ of wine, honey, sweets, brandy, and cheeses, enjoy a beautiful exhibition of flowers and handicrafts, and sample various culinary specialties.

The program for the youngest visitors was especially fun and well-attended, featuring performances by dance schools from Subotica, a children’s theater play ‘What Does the Egg Give,’ a children’s workshop ‘Little Genius,’ face painting, as well as the clown balloon artist performance.

Tamburitza orchestras ‘Dream’ and ‘Memory’ entertained visitors during the two-day Grape Harvest celebrations with their melodies, while the concerts of Sergej Ćetković and Aleksandra Radović at the Summer Stage in Palić added a special charm to the event.

A special hallmark of the Grape Harvest Days is the humanitarian character of the event. Namely, the fruits and vegetables provided by local producers to Park Palić Ltd. for the exhibition were, after the event, donated to the Kolevka institution, in agreement with the producers.

The Rotary Club Subotica also directed the proceeds from the sale of barbecue products to charitable purposes.
